Illini Central will still be having Parent/Teacher Conferences this Fall. Parents and guardians will be able to make an appointment with each of their student’s teachers, including Electives/Exploratory classes. Due to COVID-19, we are conducting conferences differently than we have in the past. All Conferences will be done via Zoom, a Google Meet session, or over the phone. Conferences will be held during the following times: Wednesday, October 7th, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm Thursday, October 8th, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm Below you can find a link with instructions on how to sign up for conferences. If you have a ICGS student, you just need to select Homeroom instead of the subject. Here is the link: https://5il.co/laen #WeAreIC

Picture Day Rescheduled
First of all, we want to thank our families and students for their flexibility as we have worked to create the "new normal" at ICMS and ICHS. We have had a little confusion regarding attendance for middle and high school students, so we wanted to take a minute of your time to clarify expectations. During blended learning, students are in-person from 8:00am-11:30am with either their "black day" or "gold day" classes. In blended learning, students are also expected to be in attendance online for 9th period which is from 1:30pm-3:00pm in which they meet with the opposite day's classes. Students are supposed to log in and take attendance during that time. (The attendance link is on the website once you click on the red bar at the top). Many of the teachers are "live" during this time with students, so we expect all students to be learning and engaging at that time, not later in the evening. If students have opted for remote learning, they need to complete the attendance form at both 8:00 and 1:30 and be engaged with those teachers/classes from 8:00-11:30 and again from 1:30-3:00. If the entire district is in remote learning, students only need to log in for attendance at 8:00 using that same link. On those days, all students will spend from 8:00am-1:00pm (75 minute class periods) with only their “black day” or “gold day” classes. Teachers will also be taking attendance in each class.

To the Illini Central Parents and Families: The first day of school is now in the record books. Thank you all for working with us through the challenges of reopening school. I think I can speak for all of our staff in saying that having students back in the building makes all of the hard work worth it. Your patience and cooperation went a long way in making today a great one. I know that the car drop off and pick up involved some long waits, but that will get better with practice. We are going to make a few changes in our screening process that may reduce the wait time. We will try to screen our walkers and student drivers before 7:45 so that they can enter right when the doors open. This may allow us to get to the car riders more quickly. I am asking that drivers help us out by doing two things: 1. Please line up to enter the east parking lot from the southbound lane of North West Avenue or from Pine Street. Please do not pull onto North West Avenue from Chestnut Street and enter from the northbound lane. I realize that this may mean that some cars have to go a little out of the way, but it will keep traffic flowing more smoothly at the north entrance of the parking lot. 2. When leaving the parking lot, please turn right and pull onto Chestnut. Again, try to avoid going north on North West. During pick up times today, I know we had some cars on Chestnut Street. This happens every year and usually improves with repetition. We will work on dismissing some of our car riders a little earlier so that we can hopefully begin filling cars right at 11:30. The first day usually brings some confusion with bus routes as well. I am happy to report that we had just a few situations today. Again, some of this happens under the best circumstances, and will improve with time. Please keep in mind that we changed some routes and drivers, so allow them a few days to perfect the system. Again, I want to thank everyone for the kind words and support. We will continue to evaluate what is working and what we can do to improve. Have a great evening. We will see you tomorrow.
