Illini Central Senior Lucas Power was named LTEC Criminal Justice September Student of the Month.
Lucas is enrolled in the Criminal Justice program at LTEC this year and is planning to pursue a career with the Illinois State Police following graduation. Lucas's teacher at LTEC is former Illini Central teacher Mr. Donnie Bowman.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, October 4th, and Thursday, October 5th, Illini Central schools will dismiss at 2:00 p.m. for parent-teacher conferences.
On Wednesday, the PreK afternoon classes will dismiss at 2:00 p.m., and there are no afternoon classes for students in PreK on Thursday.
Parent-teacher conferences allow families to connect with teachers to discuss their students' progress. If you still need to sign up for conferences, contact your child’s teacher or the building secretary to schedule a time.
This Friday, October 6th, and Monday, October 9th, students will not be in attendance at Illini Central. School will resume the regular schedule on Tuesday.
Illini Central CUSD189 will hold a special Board of Education meeting prior to its regular monthly meeting to hold a public hearing on Thursday, October 19, 2023 for the purpose of receiving testimony on the District’s proposed application for waiver of state board rules and/or school code mandates. The hearing will be convened at 7:00 p.m. in the Mason City Public Library. The regular meeting will follow the hearing.
Specifically, the district wishes to submit a waiver of section 17-1.5 of the School Code which limits administrative costs to a maximum of 105% of the previous fiscal year’s expenditure. For Fiscal Year 2024, the district proposes a 63% increase over the FY2023 budget.
This expenditure increase is due to the creation of an assistant superintendent position for the 2023-2024 school year only. This position was created to ease the transition of a retiring superintendent, a retiring bookkeeper, and a new middle and high school principal.
Picture Day will be next week for Illini Central.
Wednesday, October 4th for the Pre-K through the 5th Grade.

As we continue to do our best to communicate with students and families, we are trying to ensure all parents connect using Rooms and the Illini Central app. Teachers and staff will no longer use Class Dojo or Remind to communicate with students and parents.
Parents, you should have received an email with the "magic code" to create accounts and add students. Go to id.edurooms.com and enter the magic code. Do not use an Illini Central account to create parent accounts.
Students, you can go to id.edurooms.com, "Log in with Google," and use your Illini Central Google account.
Once you have created your account, you can use the website or download the Illini Central app. If you don't see the "Rooms" toggle on the app, you may want to update or reinstall the app. Pay attention to the pop-ups as you sign in because that is how you will receive notifications.

We are excited to start the 2023-2024 school year and look forward to having students in the building tomorrow! We have heard the need for streamlined communication from parents and families. In response, parents, guardians, and students will use the Illini Central app for district and school news, events, and more.
As part of the Illini Central app, parents and guardians can access “Rooms.” Rooms makes it easier for teachers and staff to communicate with one another through chat, much like Class Dojo did for the grade school in the past. Additionally, parents of middle and high school students will be able to view information from their students’ Google Classrooms and communicate with teachers. Rooms will replace Class Dojo and Remind; Rooms will be the platform staff uses to communicate with parents and students.
Later today, parents and guardians will receive an email and/or text message inviting them to join Rooms. Parents will receive a “magic code” for each student in this message. Parents must follow the instructions in the email to set up their account. Invitations will be sent based on information in Skyward, so we must keep this information up-to-date and accurate. If you have changes, please contact the building secretary.
While waiting for the invitations, parents can ensure they have the app downloaded on their phones. If you already have the app, you can wait for the invitation later today.
It is our hope that by using Rooms we make it easier for parents who have multiple children in the district to keep track of their students’ classroom news and activities. We look forward to a great year! See you at open house tonight.

Just a reminder that Illini Central's In-Person & New Student Registration is tomorrow, August 3rd from 2 to 7 p.m.
The middle & high school registration will be in the high school office.
PLEASE NOTE: The grade location has changed from the ICGS office to the high school gymnasium due to our air conditioning being turned off in the GS right now.
Everyone should enter through the main high school doors (Door A).
And...don't forget that the Mason County Health Department will be offering vaccines from 2 to 3 p.m. on a walk in basis.
Mason District is offering free Sports Physicals from 2 to 4 p.m. on a walk in basis as well.
It is important to note that grades 6 and 9 need full physicals to meet state requirements.
Both services will take place in the HS gym, we will be utilizing the locker rooms for the physicals.
