To the Illini Central Parents and Families: The first day of school is now in the record books. Thank you all for working with us through the challenges of reopening school. I think I can speak for all of our staff in saying that having students back in the building makes all of the hard work worth it. Your patience and cooperation went a long way in making today a great one. I know that the car drop off and pick up involved some long waits, but that will get better with practice. We are going to make a few changes in our screening process that may reduce the wait time. We will try to screen our walkers and student drivers before 7:45 so that they can enter right when the doors open. This may allow us to get to the car riders more quickly. I am asking that drivers help us out by doing two things: 1. Please line up to enter the east parking lot from the southbound lane of North West Avenue or from Pine Street. Please do not pull onto North West Avenue from Chestnut Street and enter from the northbound lane. I realize that this may mean that some cars have to go a little out of the way, but it will keep traffic flowing more smoothly at the north entrance of the parking lot. 2. When leaving the parking lot, please turn right and pull onto Chestnut. Again, try to avoid going north on North West. During pick up times today, I know we had some cars on Chestnut Street. This happens every year and usually improves with repetition. We will work on dismissing some of our car riders a little earlier so that we can hopefully begin filling cars right at 11:30. The first day usually brings some confusion with bus routes as well. I am happy to report that we had just a few situations today. Again, some of this happens under the best circumstances, and will improve with time. Please keep in mind that we changed some routes and drivers, so allow them a few days to perfect the system. Again, I want to thank everyone for the kind words and support. We will continue to evaluate what is working and what we can do to improve. Have a great evening. We will see you tomorrow.

Included in this post is a form to make sure all students needing meals during our blended learning phase OR in case of school closure (going full remote) get those meals. This will make sure our food service staff is getting enough food ordered and will be prepared to meet those needs in either case. Of course families can call in to the school if they change their minds or opt out. For instance, the ICGS teachers will hand out meals only to those signed up, so it’s important to be on this list to prevent bus delays etc. Here is the link to the form: https://forms.gle/ib1PWwHGN35J8e2E7 If you have any questions, please call the school 217-482-5180 or send an email to illinicentral@illinicentral.org #WeAreIC
