Athlete Spotlight - Cooper Thomas

Cooper Thomas, Junior, is the son of Jeff and Tammy Thomas of Mascon City. Cooper has participated in baseball, basketball, and golf while being a student at ICHS.

His favorite sports memory is getting second place at the Hartem Fresh/Soph Tournament at the end of his sophomore year. Cooper says that his favorite subject in school is either PE or history.

When asked why sports are important to him, Cooper said, “It allows me to be around my friends and it also teaches me valuable life lessons.” Cooper’s favorite movie is “Space Jam” and his favorite food is Mac & Cheese. When he isn’t busy playing sports, Cooper enjoys hanging out with friends and golfing.

His favorite quote is, “Resolve never to quit, never to give up, no matter what the situation.” -Jack Nicklaus. Cooper’s advice to future student athletes would be, “Never quit and keep working harder. Even though it might seem difficult at one point, it will eventually get better and it will pay out.”

After graduation Cooper plans to attend the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with an undecided major. ICHS would like to thank Cooper for all of his time and dedication to both academics and athletics as a student athlete.

You can catch Cooper and his basketball teammates on the floor this Winter for what should be an exciting season.
