Over the last few days, we know there has been a lot of discussion regarding the Illini Central High School volleyball program. The Board of Education does not plan to make any changes to the volleyball coaching staff. The board looks forward to working with all coaches in order to provide quality programs for our students. The board welcomes community input and encourages the community to contact either the school administration or the school board with any concerns.

ICGS Book Blast Launches Today! Exciting news! The Grade School has partnered with Books Are Fun and their Book Blast program to help build our students' home libraries! Our first Book Blast program was last year, and over $18,000 was raised to send all of our students, grades 1-5, home with books for their personal libraries. We hope to have similar or bigger results this year! Today our students learned about the Book Blast program and the importance of having their own books at home. Tonight, we ask you to take 7 minutes to help build your child's home library. Good afternoon, Tomorrow, October 31st, Illini Central Schools will dismiss at 11:30 a.m. for school improvement meetings. Pre-K will have their Halloween Half Day tomorrow from 8 a.m.-10:30 a.m. There will be no bussing for Pre-K students; they must be dropped off and picked up from school. As tomorrow is Halloween, preK and grade school students may wear their costumes to school for the spirit day as long as they do not include masks, weapons, or gore. Middle and high school students wishing to wear their costumes may do so if they pay $1 outside the office in the morning. Money collected will go towards the community projects of the Interact Club. Good afternoon, Tomorrow, Wednesday, October 4th, and Thursday, October 5th, Illini Central schools will dismiss at 2:00 p.m. for parent-teacher conferences. On Wednesday, the PreK afternoon classes will dismiss at 2:00 p.m., and there are no afternoon classes for students in PreK on Thursday. Parent-teacher conferences allow families to connect with teachers to discuss their students' progress. If you still need to sign up for conferences, contact your child’s teacher or the building secretary to schedule a time. This Friday, October 6th, and Monday, October 9th, students will not be in attendance at Illini Central. School will resume the regular schedule on Tuesday.

IC schools will dismiss on Wednesday, September 27 at 11:30 am. The IC Pre-K program will hold a half-day event for parents and students running from 8 am to 10:30 am. There is no bussing for Pre-K students tomorrow.

As we continue to do our best to communicate with students and families, we are trying to ensure all parents connect using Rooms and the Illini Central app. Teachers and staff will no longer use Class Dojo or Remind to communicate with students and parents. Parents, you should have received an email with the "magic code" to create accounts and add students. Go to id.edurooms.com and enter the magic code. Do not use an Illini Central account to create parent accounts. Students, you can go to id.edurooms.com, "Log in with Google," and use your Illini Central Google account. Once you have created your account, you can use the website or download the Illini Central app. If you don't see the "Rooms" toggle on the app, you may want to update or reinstall the app. Pay attention to the pop-ups as you sign in because that is how you will receive notifications. We are excited to start the 2023-2024 school year and look forward to having students in the building tomorrow! We have heard the need for streamlined communication from parents and families. In response, parents, guardians, and students will use the Illini Central app for district and school news, events, and more. As part of the Illini Central app, parents and guardians can access “Rooms.” Rooms makes it easier for teachers and staff to communicate with one another through chat, much like Class Dojo did for the grade school in the past. Additionally, parents of middle and high school students will be able to view information from their students’ Google Classrooms and communicate with teachers. Rooms will replace Class Dojo and Remind; Rooms will be the platform staff uses to communicate with parents and students. Later today, parents and guardians will receive an email and/or text message inviting them to join Rooms. Parents will receive a “magic code” for each student in this message. Parents must follow the instructions in the email to set up their account. Invitations will be sent based on information in Skyward, so we must keep this information up-to-date and accurate. If you have changes, please contact the building secretary. While waiting for the invitations, parents can ensure they have the app downloaded on their phones. If you already have the app, you can wait for the invitation later today. It is our hope that by using Rooms we make it easier for parents who have multiple children in the district to keep track of their students’ classroom news and activities. Just a reminder that Illini Central's In-Person & New Student Registration is tomorrow, August 3rd from 2 to 7 p.m. The middle & high school registration will be in the high school office. PLEASE NOTE: The grade location has changed from the ICGS office to the high school gymnasium due to our air conditioning being turned off in the GS right now. Everyone should enter through the main high school doors (Door A). And...don't forget that the Mason County Health Department will be offering vaccines from 2 to 3 p.m. on a walk in basis. Mason District is offering free Sports Physicals from 2 to 4 p.m. on a walk in basis as well. It is important to note that grades 6 and 9 need full physicals to meet state requirements. Both services will take place in the HS gym, we will be utilizing the locker rooms for the physicals.
