Cassy Carey, who will serve as the next principal of ICGS, will be on campus Monday, May 2, 2022. She will tour the building and visit classrooms throughout the afternoon. She will also be available in the APR beginning at 3pm until 4:30 pm to meet staff, parents, and community members.

Ms. Carey has most recently served as the principal at Rochester Intermediate School as well as previously holding the position of assistant principal at Rochester High School. Those positions have prepared her in a number of ways to lead ICGS. She will bring experience in evaluation of teachers, building a positive school culture, and leadership of instructional and assessment approaches.

Ms. Carey was hired by the Illini Central CUSD189 Board of Education on April 21st.  After the Board took action last week, Ms. Carey stated, “I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to join the Illini Central family and am committed to helping all students achieve their potential.”

Ms. Carey was selected from a pool of 9 applicants and was interviewed by staff, parents, Board members, and administrators.   “Through the interview process, I was able to interact with a number of staff, parents, school board members, and administrators, and I am beyond excited to work with such dedicated and talented individuals,” said Ms. Carey.

Ms. Carey was offered a one year contract and will officially begin her duties at ICGS after July 1st.
