The Illini Central Board of Education will resume the suspended meeting tonight at 7:00 pm at the Mason City Public Library. The meeting will not be broadcast.

Tonight, during the school board meeting which was available to the public through Google Meets, an individual joined the meeting stream and made multiple threats of violence against the school. The boys high school basketball game being played at the same time was suspended and the building was evacuated. Law enforcement officials are on the scene.
In order to allow the investigation to proceed, IC schools will be closed on Wednesday, December 20, 2023. Students who attend Schramm, High Roads, Menta, and Hammitt schools will attend and transportation will be provided as usual.
Final exams that were scheduled for tomorrow will be given on Thursday, January 4, 2024. The second semester will begin on January 5.
We will provide additional information tomorrow.

At dismissal, the grade school received a call indicating that the caller had a gun and wanted to inflict harm. He indicated to staff that he was on campus, but not in the building. We placed the entire school on lockdown and secured students inside the building. The police and Mr. Ward searched the premises and indicated that the threat was not present. The police are investigating the call, and they will have a presence on campus tomorrow during the school day. We will resume school tomorrow.

We have lifted the lockdown order and are dismissing students. We will release more information shortly.

All IC schools will dismiss at 2pm on Tuesday, December 19 and Wednesday, December 20, 2023.
School will resume on January 4, 2024.
