IC School Closure Update

The 2019-2020 school year is quickly coming to a close.  Below is a list of important dates:

  • Instruction and assessment will come to a close on Friday, May 22.

  • The final breakfast and lunch service delivery will occur on May 21st.

  • The drive-thru graduation ceremony will be held on Sunday May 24th at 2:00pm.

  • Chromebook, textbook, and hotspot return take place on Wednesday, May 27th.  Further detail regarding schedule and requirements will be released next week.

Schools across the country have faced the challenge of serving students and communities in a remote fashion.  It has not been easy, but at IC, an overwhelming majority of students have actively participated in learning despite the distance.  This is a credit to both the students and parents. The district is thankful for the commitment.

The district’s teachers and student services staff rose to meet this challenge.  Teachers provided support, personal contact, and direction to students in a variety of ways.  The resilience shown by these dedicated professionals is a source of pride for the Board of Education.

Since mid-March, over 34,000 meals have been delivered. Only the hard work of our food services, transportation, paraprofessionals and custodial staff made this possible. The district thanks them for their service to the community.

The final food services delivery will be on May 21st.  For those families who may need support during the summer months, please know that benefits are available.  For more information regarding the Pandemic EBT SNAP Benefits, please go to the Illinois Department of Human Services website at dhs.state.il.us.  Benefits can be applied for online at ABE.illinois.gov.

In the future, the district will provide more information regarding the graduation ceremony. Mrs. Durbin has worked with our senior students to create a way to honor them that properly recognizes their achievements while also following the guidelines established by the governor. Once these plans are finalized, we will release that information.

On May 27th, the district will collect all Chromebooks, textbooks, library books and school property that has been distributed.  We will use a curbside drop-off system similar to those used already.  More details will be shared next week.
