1st State Bank of Mason City and Illini Central High School are pleased to present Carter Martin with the January Student of the Month Award. For demonstrating outstanding character, Carter receives a Barnes & Noble gift card from 1st State Bank and an Amazon gift card from the Illini Central High School faculty.
Carter is the son of Kirk and Tammy Martin.
His classes this year include Civics, P.E., Ag Business, Calculus, Small Engines, Ag Communication, History Leadership, Accounting, Ag Leadership, and Dual Credit English.
Carter also participates in a variety of extra-curricular activities. He is FFA president, FFA reporter, and Math Honor Society treasurer. Carter is a member of National Honor Society, Science Club, and Spanish Club, and he was vice president of the junior class. He plays on the golf and basketball teams, as well. Carter is an Illinois State Scholar.
Outside of school, Carter is a Manna Project volunteer, a Biddy Ball coach, a Biddy Ball referee, and a blood drive volunteer.
Next year, Carter plans to attend University of Illinois’s College of ACES with a concentration in Agribusiness, Markets, and Management.
