I am privileged to have your child in my classroom every third day to participate in music and/ or art. It is a time during the day when the activity is a little more laid back. However, I do have rules and procedures for my class which you can read below.
At the beginning of the school year, my theme was a school of fish and the ocean. Some of the songs related to that theme were "Baby Shark" "Portside Pirates" and "A Hole in the Bottom of the Sea." The artwork related to the theme was Rainbow Fish, drawing and painting fish in the water, and putting our name in bubble letters within a fish picture.
During music time in the first semester, the younger students were learning the difference between fast and slow tempo, high and low pitches, and steady or not steady beats. During the second semester, I will build on what they have already learned by singing many different styles of music. They will also learn about some famous classical pieces through singing amd movement.
The older students were learning more about rhythm and how to read music. K-5 students spent a lot of time preparing for their Christmas Program on December 13, 2016 . The pictures on the top are from the 2016 Christmas Program.
We will soon start practicing for our Spring Musical Revue performed April 27, 2017 at the Arlee. These are pictures from last year's performance of "Education Rocks."All third, fourth and fifth grade students are invited to participate this year in our musical titled "Proud." They will learn the music in class and will only have 5 after school rehearsals held in April.
During art time, some of our goals are manipulating a variety of materials, demonstrating eye/hand coordination when using materials, recognizing and using various types of lines, shapes, and colors in their own art work, creating a mood or emotion in their art, and studying the art of famous artists. The younger students will be concentrating on the basics of art- lines, shapes, and colors. The older students will be concentrating on starting with a basic assignment and making it their own creation. Their artwork is proudly displayed around the school.
If you need to contact me, I usually arrive at school by 7:35 and stay after school until 5:00.
